1 tps. of baking soda
1 tps. of nutmeg
2 tps. of cinnamon
In another bowl cream together: 1 cup of sugar
3 eggs
1 cup of vegtable oil
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 cup of buttermilk
Mix together the dry ingredients with the wet. Mixing until well combined.
Use a 9x13 pan coated with Pam. (you can coat with flour and butter/crisco
also) Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes
out clean.
After the cake has been taken out of the oven. Start your icing.
In a sauce pan place: 1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of buttermilk
4 Tbs. of butter
1/2 tsp. of baking soda
1 Tbs. of Karo syrup (light)
1/2 tsp. of vanilla
Put on medium heat, stirring when mixture foams, keep cooking until color is light
caramel color, do not allow the mixture to thicken. It should still be able to pour.
This whole process takes about 6-7 minutes cook time.
Take mixture off stove and pour onto cake, making sure cake is completely covered.
