1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup of crunchy peanut butter
4 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of soda
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of oats
In a bowl cream together the first 7 ingredients, next mix the dry ingredients in and mix well. At this time you can either place in a 9 x 13 cake pan or you can use a sheet pan for bar cookies. Place in a 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes depending on your oven. The bar cookies are done when they are browned and the cake is done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Place on a cooling rack while you get the next step ready.
Now in a mixing bowl add 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 Tablespoon of cocoa, 1 Tablespoon of butter softened, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla and 4-6 Tablespoons of milk. Turn on the mixer adding the milk a little at a time until your icing is smooth and can be easily spread.
When the cake/cookies are cooled spread the icing into a nice even layer.
The last step: In a mixing bowl add 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 Tablespoon of either creamy or crunchy peanut butter and 1-2 Tablespoons of milk. While mixing add one Tablespoon of milk first to see if it is the right consistency to dribble over cake/cookies with a fork, if not add more milk.
Dribble the peanut butter mixture over cake/cookies with a fork doing any pattern you want.
Now if they are cookies cut into bars! Either way they are great and store well in a airtight container.
That's What's Cooking on the Broken Road Farm!!
Enjoy!
